On Sunday we had
a free day so we pretty much got to do whatever we wanted to do. In the morning
we took the MRT to Longshan
Temple . This temple was
built in 1738 and is the center of worship in the Wanhua District.
We then went to
go eat at a famous dumpling restaurant called Din Tai Fung, near Taipei 101. We got shrimp
fried rice, egg, tomato, and tofu soup, the original dumplings, vegetable
dumplings, and red bean dumplings for desert. I never thought I would eat sweet
frijoles wrapped in pastry dough for desert, but they were actually pretty
good. Everything was delicious and we even got to watch the dumplings being
made. We also found out that there are restaurants in the US , two in California
and one in Washington .
YUM!

After lunch we
walked to Taipei
101, got our tickets, and rode the “world’s fastest elevator to the 89th
floor. We started on the 5th floor and it only took us 37 seconds to
reach the top, can you believe that!? As we were going up my head felt like it
was going to explode because of how much pressure was building up in it. It was
quite foggy/smoggy, but we had a beautiful 360 degree view of Taipei . Taipei
101 is actually the world’s second tallest building standing at a towering 508
meters.
Later that
evening we took the MRT to Danshui, a sea-side district in northern Taiwan to watch
the sunset. It was beautiful! After the sunset we took a ferry ride back to the
night market in town to eat some street food. I had squid balls, star fruit
juice, goose, shrimp with mayo and ice cream sprinkles, clams, oysters, mussels
and I even tried me some Taiwanese beer. I had a lot of fun here and I hope I
can go back before leaving Taiwan .
Hilarious!
